Race Across The West June 11, 2008 Oceanside, CA to Taos, NM
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! On June 14, 2008 at 6:30 A.M. M.D.T., Pam and Marvin Atwood racing as community members of Team Semper Fi completed the Race Across The West, a 1,044 mile non-stop bike race from Oceanside, CA to Taos, NM in a time of 2 days 16 hrs. They won the 2-person mixed team division and were the 1st team overall including two 4-person all male teams. They also arrived in Taos ahead of 12 Race Across America teams comprised of 2 person mixed, 4 person mixed, 4 person male, 4 person female and 8 person mixed. The team's success would not have been possible if not for the tireless efforts of the crew consisting of Larry Burns, Bill Peschka, Brad Patay, Josh Garling & Todd Atwood. Marvin and Pam have completed Race Across America twice and are co-record holders for 50+ mixed team, 3,043 miles in 6 days, 19 hrs. The team is raising funds to benefit The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, an organization dedicated to supporting returning wounded Marines and their families.
